10 Simple Ways to Relieve Stress

To start off, I would like to start an interesting fact about stress. Biological stress is a quite recent discovery in the late 1950s by Hans Selye firstly identified and documented stress.

Symptoms of stress have long lived on the surface of earth, but thank to Selye’s discovery that helped millions to cope with stress. Here we will talk about 10 ways to efficiently relieve stress.

Music Therapy

If you are feeling engulfed by stress, try take a short period of time out and listen to some relaxing music. Playing soothing music will affect your brain and body with a positive effect that can lower your blood pressure, and reduce cortisol, a hormone which is related to stress.

Share It With A Friend

When you are under overwhelming stress, take a break and call a friend to talk about your problems. Good relationships with friends and loved ones are vital to any healthy lifestyle. Someone that will be willing to lend an ear are very precious, especially when you are under a lot of stress. A comforting voice is all you need to calm down.

Talk Yourself Through It

When time does not allow you to call your friend, the next best thing you can do is talk yourself out of the situation. You can tell or ask yourself why are you stressed out, what you need to do to solve this problem and also tell yourself that everything is going to be okay.

Eat the Proper Food

What you eat and your stress levels are linked. When you are stressed, you will most likely forget to eat properly and avoid using sugary, fatty snack foods as a substitute.

Laughter Is Your Best Medicine

I am sure you have heard the phrase laughter is the best medicine before, the reason behind that is that laughter releases endorphins that will rejuvenate your mood and decreases your levels of cortisol and adrenaline.

Drink a Cup of Tea

Caffeine will cause a spike in blood pressure in your body. Instead of coffee or energy drinks, green tea is a much better option to go for as it has lesser caffeine than coffee and provides healthy antioxidants and theanine, an amino acid that can calm your nervous system.

Be Mindful

Most of the solutions above offers an immediate relief, but there are also ways that would be more effective in the long run. The concept of “mindfulness” plays a big role in meditative and somatic approaches to mental strength and became trendy recently.

Exercise During Your Free Time

We understand that not everyone has a routine for exercise, therefore the exercise we are talking about is just a short walk around your office or just some simple stretches during a break at work. This will help your blood move and releases endorphins that can improve your mood

Get Enough Sleep

Everyone knows that stress can cause you to have trouble sleeping. Unfortunately, lack of sleep is also a major cause of stress. This repetitive cycle causes the brain and body to get fatigue and get worse from time to time. One should get around seven or eight hours of sleep and it might be the most effectively way to kill stress.

Breathe Easy

This method will be similar to meditating, the difference is that instead of not thinking about anything. Now, you focus on your breathing as your lungs expands to the maximum. Deep breathing provides oxygen to your blood that helps center your body and clears your mind.
